I’ve got a spook-tacular recipe for you! (I totally just said that in the scariest goblin voice ever.)

In light of it being Halloween and all, I have created a crab cake that is appropriate for this festive spirit. You will get to put to use your jack-o-lantern after it has finished freaking out the young neighbor kids.

Argh! Why can’t I freak out the neighbor kids? Fun-sucker!

What happened to Halloween being about scary shit; ghosts, werewolves, vampires and dead princesses? It seems that Halloween has been bastardized by the sluts -slutty nurses, slutty vampires, slutty Terminators. It’s time to take it back…with a fire-cracker war! Lets tie the slutty halloween-goers to trees and peg them with bottle rockets.  (I’m kidding, by the way, please direct your hate mail to my puppy.)

Halloween Crab Cakes Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup or 1/4 onion (chopped)
  • 1 celery stock (chopped fine)
  • 2 Tablespoons of butter
  • 1/4 cup of mayonnaise
  • 1 egg beaten
  • 1/4 cup of raw, shredded pumpkin
  • 2 Tablespoons pumpkin seeds (shelled)
  • 1/2 cup of bread slices (with the crusts cut-off and sliced into small bits)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon of Old Bay seasoning
  •  1 lb Jumbo lumb blue crab meat
  • 2 cups of Panko crumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 Tablespoons of milk
  • Oil for frying

Method to the Rad-ness:

In a small frying pan, add the onion, celery and butter. Cook until the onion becomes transparent.

In a medium bowl, blend the mayonnaise and egg together. Add the onion, celery, pumpkin, pumpkin seeds and bread. Stir until all the bread is moist. Sprinkle with the Old Bay seasoning and add the crab meat gently by folding it in.

Form into eight equal crab cakes and place them on a baking sheet. Let cool in the refrigerator for one hour.

Beat the egg and milk together, in a small bowl, to make an egg wash. In a separate bowl add the bread crumbs.

Heat the oil in a medium frying pan on medium/high heat.

Dip each crab cake in the egg wash then dip them into the bread crumbs and put them into the frying pan. Cook them in batches of four.

Cook each side for four minutes. Remove from the frying pan and drain them on brown paper bags for a crunchy cake or paper towel.
